Pre-Insanity
I hadn't seen my Dad for a while, but when I did - he looked great. He had either been eating healthy for a while or been working out! It turns out he had been following the Insanity 60 day programme and had kept it quiet. I had heard of Insanity before, but never really looked in to it. Having seen real results, it inspired me and my girlfriend to give it a go. (Having previously signed up to the local gym and tried eating healthy a few times - but never really got anywhere) So here it goes...
Day 1 - Monday 29th July 2013 - Fitness test
The moment we got in from work we got changed, opened all the windows and wondered what we had let ourselves in for. We had bottles of water and towels (essential Insanity items!!) and pen & paper, as the first day is a fitness test - write down your results & over 60 days hopefully see improvements!
We started by taking our "before" photos - both front view and side view and then hit play. (Can't wait for the "after" photos - will it make a big difference?)
The fitness test was okay - there were a few moves my body probably hasn't done in a long time, if ever - but I think I did okay. The biggest challenge was keeping count whilst working out!
Day 2 & 3
I'm now on day 14 and writing about day 2 & 3 - so I'll summarise.
- I have completed 3 half marathons before - but have never sweat this much before in my life!!
- The first few days are tough - aching everyday and feeling the burn (especially on stairs) isn't great - but 60 days of this - has got to make a big difference!
- I've noticed a change in my appetite - by lunch I am hungrier and I no longer feel the need to eat anything after my evening meal
- I'm also burnt out and ready to go to sleep each night!
Day 6
In the first 5 days I have lost 4lbs! Great start!
Before starting day 6 - the right hand side of my stomach ached. I decided to continue and completed day 6.
I woke up on day 7 and was in a world of pain! I should have listened to my body and not pushed on! Fortunately day 7 was a rest day! I was also away with work - so ended up missing day 8 and 9, but I'm glad I had the time to recover!
Day 10 - 13
Day 11 - Cardio Recovery - Being naive I thought I was in for an easy day of stretching! During some of the stretches my muscles were on fire!
Day 12 -Cardio Power & Resistance - Between getting back from work and heading out for a birthday party - "I couldn't be bothered", but ended up doing the workout with not much time to spare.
Day 13 - Cardio Power and Carido Abs -The Cardio Abs session starts off with Shaun T and two of his class showing off their abs - they are ripped, putting me to shame! lol. I had to dig deep - and know this workout will help shape the stomach!
Day 14 - Rest day
No aches and pains and I'm looking forward to tomorrow's fitness test. I know I will have improved since day 1. My girlfriend has also pointed out that she can notice the difference in me already - & 46 days to go!
