Life with Messi

The first happy hour of Fifa 14 was held during the champions league half time, as I'm currently on Stoptober (no booze or junk food) I thought I'd make the most of this happy hour!

After opening a couple of packs I was pretty happy with some of the Premier league players and just happy to have some contracts as I was down to my last one.

I had to pop out but decided to open a third and final pack, I tapped one of the buttons repeatedly as I was in a rush and to see if my luck would change and it did....

Messi!

All the difference a Messi makes: (draft for now)

Twitter
I tweeted that I had got Messi, this tweet received quite a lot of attention! I received offers of payment - via Paypal - so real money! I also had responses from around the world, from non-English twitter accounts - although people don't speak the same language, they know Messi! I wish my blog and normal tweets received such attention!

In Game
I'll add more detail later but I have noticed two main things since adding Messi to my team:

1) As soon as people see Messi on the loading screen, they then love to watch the cut scenes. This is driving me mad! Just get on with the game! But when he scores, I sometimes treat them to the replays.... When the game is loading I have then been subject to a number of friends requests and trade offers. One guy offered me a swap for Ronaldo or for IF Ibrahimovic. Both players I would love to have, but wouldn't suit my Argentinian team!)

2) I don't know if its due to having my teams squad rating, chemistry or due to the fact I am lucky enough to own Messi. But I am around Division 5 at the moment and I being matched against opponents with some crazy teams! I've pretty much seen replica's of Bayern, Barca, Real and Dortmund. I've never played against teams like this and never played a team with Robben in it! (I think that guy had Robben, Reus, Lewandowski and Alaba)

Trade/Sale Value
To be added

Impact on results/general gameplay:
(More at a later date, but key points for now)

- He is quick and sometimes shrugs off some big defenders
- I don't know how, but someone with David Luiz managed to catch him sprinting flat out! (This should not happen in my eyes!) But the guy had applied booster's to his whole team!
- I was scoring lot's of headers, so I need to change my style a bit
- I'm not great at skill moves, but I'm enjoying using his speed and agility to turn and trick defenders. I've skipped past quite a few defenders with ease
- Due to his size, if he is caught or intercepted by a bigger player - you tend to lose out
- But he is great and winning the ball back and chasing down players in midfield

27/10/13 My Argentinian team so far:

I think my CAM, strike force and RM need improving. Today I've brought in Tevez and Pogba.
Only played a few games but Pogba seems to be everywhere! He must have been a real thorn in my oppositions side, constantly tackling, winning headers and even scored! I'm impressed so far.

I'd love to get Aguero, Lavezzi and Di Maria (but they cost some serious coins). I'm trying to find a good strike partnership and trying to workout where Messi is most effective. My previous strike force of Doumbia and Kone was brilliant! So I need to at least better those two, or bring them back! Any thoughts and comments are welcome below.
