Fifa14 Ultimate Team

Background:

I've not bought a new copy of fifa on release date before, mainly because I like to wait for the prices to drop. But this time I thought I'd pre-order a copy and found myself counting down the days until fifa Friday! Fifa fever! I started trading early on the web app and thinking about how I can improve from last years team.

I can only comment on the ultimate team mode, as that is all I have played so far.

In fifa 13 I'd play online seasons but would get fed up changing the real teams back to how I like them, as the game would match the teams in real life on a weekly basis. I used to play career mode and focus on achieving European domination and bringing in the best players. But seasons take a lot of time and i'd resort to simulating games. 

When I first played fifa ultimate team, I was getting the hang of it, spent all my coins and then realised contracts expire, I was stuck and gave up.

In fifa13 I returned to ultimate team mode - and if you have seen my fifa page - you will see I was turned! I must admit it is pretty addictive and is probably the cause of rows, breakup and divorces world wide! 

Fifa14

Its worth noting that there is a web app, both via PC and mobile platforms. The PC versions currently gives you a daily reward for logging in, in terms of packs and coins! This has really helped and let me start trading and building a team before the actual console version was released! 

It took a while to get used to how the new game plays, the physics and the slower speed of the game stand out for me. My players seemed drunk and we're constantly kicking the ball out of play as I tried playing down the wing. 

Approach

Last year I went for a premier league team and won the division 1 title and the online gold cup - which wasn't easy!!!

I found players that suited my style and managed to get aguero in a pack, goal machine! 

This year I have decided to build an Argentinian team, I must add that I have regretted this a few times - but I'll stick with the idea for now. I didn't fancy building a typical Brazilian, Spanish or German team. 

If I were to change I'd perhaps build a premier league team again - as I know who those players are!

Progress

Its the start of October, so far I have been promoted from division 10 and division 9, both times missing out on the title by 1 point. I now have a repeat of division 8 after a depressing losing streak! I was going to just save my coins, but have found myself buying strikers from other countries and trying them out. 

I'm impressed with Kone, doubmia and Benteke. But I couldn't sell lukaku or drogba quickly enough! I just found them too slow and not nimble enough to create anything, in the it guys philosophy! Lol 

I like to think the leagues are still balancing out, hence why I am struggling in the lower leagues! I don't have the time to master trading and make my fortune, so I will slog it out, not buy gold packs and hopefully achieve the ultimate Argentinian team!
