Premier League 2014/15 - Liverpool

The new Premier League season has kicked off in style, much to the delight of fans around the world.

Having listened to the pundits and setup a fantasy league team for the 1st time, I thought I would share my thoughts and predictions - from a Liverpool fans perspective.

Predictions:
- Chelsea to win the league
- Liverpool to achieve top 4 finish if they sign 2 more strikers
- Chelsea (1st), Man City (2nd), Liverpool (3rd), Arsenal or Spurs (4th & 5th)
- Man Utd have landed a big sponsorship deal, any club will increase prices on transfer targets - I expect some big spending
- Diego Costa (Chelski) will be an instant hit

Liverpool's season:
After a positive pre-season, including a 4-0 win against Borussia Dortmund the new season looks positive for Liverpool. The opening game against Southampton was a struggle, but I think it's important for any club with ambition to land 3 points on the opening day, especially at home. It concludes the transfers, training and pre season preparation, offering a glimpse of what the teams are made of.

Aside from the return to the Champions League, one of the season highlights for me will be the Anfield expansion. Introducing around 13,000 seats to a 45,000 seater stadium. I'd like to see a higher total capacity - but i accept it's not an easy task! There are two ticket windows per season to buy tickets for Liverpool home games - even if you are online ready to buy - it proves a challenge to secure any ticket...you also need to have a members card-so if you do secure a ticket, you might be sat by yourself!

With each game essentially being a sell out-many fans are turned away. The increased capacity will not only increase chances of fans seeing the team play, but 13,000 extra ticket sales at £30+ each is good for the club.

With a host of new signings the team will have to compete for a starting position. Following the high profile departure of Luis Suarez to FC Barcelona, there is a lump of money to be spent. However, more strikers are needed! Sturridge and Lambert can't be expected to carry the team through the league and champions league together. An injury to either player questions where goals will come from. Brendan Rodgers is a wise man, but hopefully some strikers with unbelievable tekkers and pace can be signed before the transfer window closes!

Let me know your thoughts below! If the post proves popular I may cover more football related posts & Liverpool FC thoughts.
