Liverpool F.C 14/15

A 6-1 defeat away to Stoke closes the 2014/2015 for Brendan Rogers Liverpool, handing 5th place to Tottenham and 25 points behind Premier League winners Chelsea. The worst LFC league defeat since 1963! Southampton who seemed to sell all of their players before the start of the season finish only 2 points behind Liverpool.

Like many others, I'm keen to see what happens next for Liverpool.

Gerrard leaves Merseyside for L.A, Sturridge is injury prone, Balotelli has shown no return on the £16million investment and the future of some players seems doubtful, one of those being Raheem Sterling.

What a difference a Luis Suarez makes.

The goals have dried up since Suarez departed for sunny Spain, in his first season with Barcelona he has just won La Liga and has helped Barca to a champions league final in Berlin vs Juventus. He has teamed up with Messi and Neymar and the three are unstoppable.

Last season the premier league title was in Liverpool's hands, but the team fell short to finish 2nd. Close, but no cigar - but a return to champions league football.

Sadly the important return to European nights soon fizzled out, with Liverpool failing to reach the knockout rounds. 2015/2016 will see LFC set for the Europa league rather than the champions league.  The red men also crashed out in the Wembley semi final vs Aston Villa.

A positive to take away from this season is the long overdue Anfield extension. More seats for the fans and more ticket sales for the club to hopefully spend wisely!

Liverpool had one problem to deal with, strikers - the impact of not fixing that is now clear as the season closes. But now there is a further problem, the Captain, legend and icon Steven Gerrard has gone. Sterling has caused disruption through back page headlines and reportedly turning down £100k a week at the age of 20.

LFC have invested in a squad, but it is goal scoring individuals they need. When they find quality players pulling on the red shirt, they also need to keep them. If only LFC had kept Torres, Suarez, Alonso and Mascherano. Those names shape a team capable of big things! At least we got to see Suarez and Torres actually team up for a charity game this season.

I'm concerned that if LFC don't hit the overhaul button, they could dilute further and head the wrong way in the table.

I do expect Rodgers to be the man in charge next season, but as I write this the bookies are slashing odds for Klopp to take charge. Having left Dortmund in front of some amazing scenes, I think Klopp could arrive and sort this mess out! (Hopefully bringing Reus and a few other BVB players with him)

So, all eyes on the expanding Anfield. Who will stay, who will go? Sadly the fans can't decide.

What are your thoughts? Rodgers in or out? Should LFC keep Sterling? Is Klopp the man for the job? Who do LFC need to sign and sell?
