Jin Juu, London

Jin Juu, London
Website: www.jinjuu.com

Following a few days exploring London and Hogwarts (Warner Bros Studios) Jin Juu was one of my highlights. As with most things before I part with my money, I like to research. My research led me to the Korean menu of Jin Juu. Looking at the menu, it was clearly a chance to try a variety of new things. I had hoped to visit in the evening, but it was fully booked, so we decided to go for a lunch booking instead.

A friendly welcome on arrival and we were promptly taken to the seating downstairs. It's a really nice venue and the glowing green wall on the stair well showed of its style as we headed to our seats. The seating area had a nice atmosphere, with more stylish artwork and the chefs could be seen working away at the end.

There was plenty of variety in the drinks menu, but a bit too early to pick a beer or Korean cocktail. Instead I went for a pot of tea, although sweet, it was really nice and ticked the box of something new.

I could be quite mean and compare Jin Juu with somewhere I went for breakfast whilst in London. The contrast really showed off the excellent service at Jin Juu. We joked about it afterwards, but you couldn't finish a glass of water in Jin Juu, because the staff were so attentive and keen to top up your glass or cup of tea.

Although it was a 2 page menu, it was difficult to decide. So many options, different styles and tasty sounding combinations.

Sae-woo pops

Gochu Bombs

We shared the sae-woo pops, delicious fried prawn balls on sticks. The dip was a nice match. We also ordered the Gochu bombs. They were my favourite, my mouth is watering thinking about them! A good size bomb, they are actually deep fried jalapeƱos that are stuffed with bulgogi beef, pork, cheddar and Parmesan cheese, served with a cool ranch dip. Some of my favourite ingredients all in one. Amazing.

The fries were crispy and nice and hot. We had plenty of different dips and sauces to enjoy them with.

Bulgogi burgers

Korean fried chicken slider

For mains we combined the fries with sliders. The sliders surprised me, I perhaps thought small burgers would be a disappointment, but they were full of flavour and enjoyable creations. The small bites soon added up and we were simply too full to attempt a dessert, I'm sure we missed out on some great creations, but it's a nice excuse to return.

Looking back at the menu, there are plenty more dishes I would like to try at Jin Juu. Again I will highlight the service was really appreciated and a number of staff said thank you on our way out. The positivity continued beyond the meal, with the owner and head chef showing appreciation for some of my tweets as I made the journey back to Sheffield.

The only disappointment is that I may have to go without Gochu bombs for a while!

No second thoughts a 5/5.  :D

Mirpuri Dhera Indian Restaurant Review

Address: 261 Staniforth Road, Sheffield, S9 3FP
Tel: 0114 244 9199
Price: £9.99 per adult, under 10's £5, under 3's free!
Good for: Curry!
Rating: 5/5

Having stayed in Sheffield beyond my student years, Mirpuri Dhera is my most visited restaurant in Sheffield / South Yorkshire. It is a restaurant I have dragged friends to and continue to recommend to others. Almost to the point of singing and dancing that it is Mirpuri Dhera day.....

Once you have got the hand of pronouncing Mirpuri Dhera, it is an Indian / Pakistani / Kashmiri all you can eat buffet. Hold your initial thoughts, it is authentic, amazing value for money and most importantly delicious. We have almost given up on trying other Indian restaurants in Sheffield, because this is the one to beat. Although Urban Choola is also very good (London Road).

Silversmiths Restaurant Sheffield with #socialsheffield

Social Sheffield Foodie Network Launch Event

What a difference an invitation can make. From sitting in queues of motorway traffic on a wet and foggy Monday, an invitation from @eatsocialshef resulted in networking with 15 or so editors, photographers, tweeters and bloggers - celebrating the launch of the Social Sheffield Foodie Network

One of Sheffield's leading independent restaurants - Silversmiths was the venue, but it is a restaurant that is full of character and has left me quite impressed with a number of its projects, a business that is clearly embracing innovation and technology.

Meeting the owners and chefs makes a real difference, if they remain behind closed doors - diners miss the stories and personalities, but may never know about the exciting projects and the effort behind scenes.

Good for: Japanese / sushi
Rating: 4.5/5
Visit: August 2014
Address: 8 Milton street, sheffield, S1 4JU

I'm glad a friend introduced me to this restaurant. I've not heard of it before and it's location is hidden from the main streets.

The staff are very friendly and it is a spacious and well lit restaurant. It takes some time to work through the menu, as there is a lot of choice! Luckily the menu has useful photos of each dish.

Good for: Thai food
Rating: 4/5 (depending on dish!)
Visit: Early 2014
Address: 1 Ecclesall Rd, Sheffield S11 8HY

Having passed Baan Thai countless times and wondering if it is any good, I thought it was about time to pay a visit and see. The Baan Thai website seems to have gone offline, so I did wonder if the place was still in business!

I found a number on Google and sure enough, managed to book a table!

Atomic Burger Review Bristol

Location: Bristol, UK or Oxford, UK
Website: www.atomicburger.co.uk
Good For:  Burgers / fun experience / stickers
Average price per person: £10 - £15
ITG Rating: 5/5
Visit: Late 2013

To summarise: The best burger meal I have ever had. But it doesn't stop there my friend! The place itself is amazing, from artificial grass under the benches outside to waking up your inner child when you walk inside. The place is full of action figures, models, artwork and memories. But just like the burgers, there are even more impressive layers to Atomic Burger.

Good For:  Meat / a unique experience / special occasion
Average price per person: £20 - £35

This is one of my favourite restaurants and is an experience I would like to share with all my friends and family! It is worth the trip to Leeds just to eat here! Some people at work were talking about their favourite restaurants and this place sounded good. So I visited it with my girlfriend and we loved it! We have talked about it ever since and this is the 2nd time we have been. I think it is a good choice for my first review and will be tough for other places to beat!
